Hi, I'm James.
Some people tolerate math. I've always been drawn to it. I still seek out challenging puzzles in my spare time just for the satisfaction of cracking them. In high school, classmates started coming to me before tests, and I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed breaking down complex concepts into simple steps and watching someone who was stuck suddenly get it.
That passion led me to Cornell University, where I earned a B.S. in Statistics and was a teaching assistant for Calculus I and Statistics I, leading weekly discussion sections and helping students build a real understanding of the material.
Every student processes math differently. Some need a diagram before a formula makes sense. Some want to grind through problems until the pattern clicks. Some need the "why" before they'll trust the "how." I figure out which one you are early, and I keep sessions low-pressure, conversational, and focused.
